On September 18, 2023, Delhi University successfully hosted a Digital India Talk Show and Interactive Session. It was organised as part of the National e-Governance Division’s (NeGD) Digital India Awareness campaign by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This was the second in a series of workshops that would be held over the ensuing six months.
More than 500 University employees, including faculty, staff, and students from several colleges, attended the programme. Officials from NeGD and DU each gave a keynote address after lighting the first bulb in the programme.
In his explanation of the goals of the Digital India Programme and how its main initiatives are bringing about the country’s digital transformation, Shri J. L. Gupta, Director, NeGD, MeitY, helped these initiatives have a better reach to the farthest reaches of the nation.
In order to promote better awareness and the penetration of advantages to all, Prof. Sanjeev Singh, Director of the Delhi University Computer Centre, emphasized the need for collaboration between the Government and Universities. He talked about the university’s multiple partnerships with MeitY for programmes like DigiLocker, the National Academic Depository (NAD), and the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).
The benefits of digitalization in student life and the need for ethics in the digital world were discussed by Prof. Sanjoy Roy, Director of the Institute of Lifelong Learning (ILLL) and Head of the Department of Social Work at the University of Delhi.
Five important Digital India initiatives—UMANG, DigiLocker, National Academic Depository – Academic Bank of Credits (NAD-ABC), Cyber Security, myScheme, and UX4G—were the topics of engaging workshops led by professionals. The advantages of Digital India programmes for students, professors, and the general public were explained by experts. After each presentation, there was a question-and-answer session where participants could ask the experts directly about the initiatives.
One of the workshop’s highlights was an interactive quiz called “Digital India,” which featured multiple-choice questions about the five initiatives and was enthusiastically taken by both students and DU professors. And prizes and certificates from Digital India were given to the winners.
