Dharmendra Pradhan Launches Six Projects and Inaugurates Kendriya Vidyalaya

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, laid the groundwork for six projects and inaugurated a Kendriya Vidyalaya at NIT Rourkela today, in the presence of Shri Jual Oram, Member of Parliament for Sundargarh Lok Sabha Constituency, and other dignitaries.

He claimed that these projects will help to boost the institution’s teaching, learning, innovation, and skilling environment. In accordance with the National Education Policy 2020, these developments, which include boy and girl dormitories and faculty houses, will increase capacity and make campus life more dynamic.

Shri Pradhan engaged with young founders and CEOs of start-ups incubated at FTBI at the event, encouraging them to focus on problem-solving and contribute to the transformative journey towards Viksit Bharat. He also stated that the foundation for technology and business Incubation is creating an enabling environment for establishing the start-up ecosystem in India.

In his address, he encouraged students of NIT Rourkela to aspire to become wealth creators. He said that Odisha will mark 100 years as a separate state in 2036 and India will mark 100 years of independence in 2047, for which NIT Rourkela has to lead efforts to further inculcate the spirit of research, innovation and entrepreneurship, and nurture the youth and contribute to the dynamism and prosperity of Odisha and India.

The projects comprise a 1000-person boys’ dormitory, a 500-person girls’ hostel, a 1.5-million-liter-per-day (MLD) sewage treatment facility, and 72 teacher apartments. Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) will provide funding for certain infrastructure improvements.

In addition to this, a 500-person capacity girls’ hostel financed by MCL and a 500-person capacity girls’ hostel backed by the Ministry of Education will be developed.
