Karnal: Prior to the ‘Jan Milan programme’ of the former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday evening, his followers who are running for office in the Lok Sabha, Assembly, and civic bodies had been engaged in a poster battle for the previous two days. Roads and streets in the city were covered in posters and banners, especially in the vicinity of the site. Such posters were placed posted in several leaders’ respective neighbourhoods. Senior party officials claim that the quantity of posters and banners displayed demonstrates the enthusiasm of the party’s workers and leaders.
Ambala: At a recent gathering at Congress Bhawan, when the AICC coordinator was present to hear feedback from party members, intense factionalism among Congress leaders came to light. While the party workers were obviously allowed full rein to demonstrate their allegiance to their leader and strength against the opposing camp, the indiscipline infuriated and disappointed the AICC coordinator and the PCC district in-charge. While the Congress leaders refer to the workers’ lack of discipline as “excitement,” the events at the conference have offered BJP leaders yet another opportunity to criticise the Congress, which is riven with factions.
Hisar: Ram Kumar Gautam, the JJP’s assembly representative for the Narnaund Assembly district, missed the party’s national executive meeting that was held there on Sunday. Three days prior, Gautam and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had shared the stage. He had publicly attacked the JJP leadership and voiced his unhappiness with them. Along with Gautam, Ramniwas Surjekhera, a JJP MLA from the Jind district’s Narwana Assembly sector, skipped the meeting. These two MLAs are well-known party critics. However, the meeting was attended by the other eight MLAs. The JJP had 10 seats in the 2019 Assembly elections.
Panipat: As the current Municipal Corporation House’s term is set to expire in four months, the allegation of corruption in the city’s park construction has once more come to light. The ‘Textile City’ has long struggled with this problem. It was also brought up prior to the 2019 elections, and the ruling party’s MLA (Urban) has brought it up again. MLA Pramod Vij claimed during an event hosted by a resident welfare association (RWA) that corruption was pervasive in the building of many parks in the city. The CM and Vigilance Department have received information to look into the situation, he claimed.
Rewari: Residents of Rewari are curious about September 23—not because it is commemorated as the day that freedom warrior Rao Tularam was killed—but rather because it is rumoured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lay the cornerstone for the eagerly anticipated AIIMS project on that day. Although no official announcement of such a scheme has yet been made, the district government has already started making plans for it. When Union Minister Rao Inderjit visited with the PM last month and pushed him to start the AIIMS project, which he had previously announced in February 2019, the date of September 23 came to the knowledge of the public. According to Rao’s allies, the PM would travel to Rewari on September 23.
