Bomb Threats: 15 Bengaluru Schools Receive Alarming Emails

On Friday morning, as many as 15 schools in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru received bomb threat emails, causing alarm among officials, students, parents, and staff. The city police assume the emails are a hoax, but they are undertaking an investigation to rule out all possibilities, according to news agency PTI.

Authorities, including the bomb squad, are checking the campuses of these institutions for any suspicious materials and removing them. As a precaution, cops have evacuated students and staff from the schools, and school officials have advised parents to come and pick up their children early.

“The email claimed that explosives had been planted on school grounds,” a senior police officer told the reporters. We received a call from the command center and promptly dispatched teams to schools situated around the city. All children and staff have been safely evacuated from the school grounds, and a thorough search is underway. So far, nothing unusual has been discovered, and it appears to be a fake message. Parents should not be concerned; our teams are on the ground.”

Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara also spoke on the situation, saying, “At present, we have received information about 15 schools where threatening e-mails have been received, last year also such threats were received. We cannot take any risk, we are inspecting the schools and are taking all precautionary measures in schools. We will take strict action against those who are making threatening calls. We are looking into all aspects.”

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar even visited a school in Bengaluru after it received a threatening e-mail. “I was watching TV, the school opposite to my house also got a threat mail. I came here to check. Till now it seems like a threat call. But we have to be very cautious about it,” he said.

Last year, many schools in the tech center got similar fake calls and texts, with the city’s National Public School getting a bomb threat in January of this year. additional investigation is continuing, and additional information is expected in the future.
