US-Based Terrorist Happy Passia Captured by ICE After 14 Attacks in Punjab
Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Passia, a US-based terrorist linked to 14 attacks in Punjab over the past six months, has been detained by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Among India's most wanted, he had a reward of ₹5 lakh on his head.
Security agencies say he collaborated with Pakistan’s ISI and Babbar Khalsa International to orchestrate these attacks, many of which targeted police establishments.
Since November 2024, Amritsar and Gurdaspur have seen a spate of IED and grenade attacks. Notable incidents include an IED found outside Ajnala police station on November 23, a grenade blast at Majitha police station on December 4, and multiple attacks in Gurdaspur and Kalanaur. On January 9, 2025, an explosion outside Gumtala police post was claimed by Passia in retaliation for the killing of his associates. Attacks continued into 2025, including blasts at police posts, a BJP leader’s residence, and, most recently, on April 16, a grenade attack on a YouTuber’s house. Passia often claimed responsibility via social media, drawing significant attention from Indian security forces.
