Student Accuses Chaitanyananda Saraswati of Sexual Harassment
A disturbing case has emerged in New Delhi, where a female student has accused self-styled godman Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati of sexual harassment. The allegations come from a student of the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management in Vasant Kunj, who claims the swami sent her inappropriate messages such as “Baby, I love you… you look beautiful.”
The student says she was pressured to respond to his messages. When she resisted, she alleges that her attendance and marks were manipulated to intimidate her. She further claims that some students were even forced to change their names under his influence.
The student’s testimony reveals a larger pattern of coercion. She states that refusal to obey the swami’s demands led to threats of academic penalties, including lowered exam marks. The atmosphere reportedly created a culture of fear and silence among students.
The matter escalated when an FIR was filed against Saraswati. During the investigation, police also discovered a Volvo car with a fake diplomatic license plate in the institute’s basement. This led to a second FIR for fraud and misuse of registration plates.
Authorities have now registered two separate cases one for sexual harassment and another for use of forged number plates. To prevent Saraswati from fleeing the country, a lookout notice has been issued.
The allegations have once again drawn attention to the misuse of power by individuals in positions of influence. What makes the case especially alarming is that it happened within an educational institution, a place meant to nurture safety and trust.
For students, the episode is a reminder of the vulnerabilities they face when authority figures exploit their power. For society, it underscores the urgent need for safer educational spaces and accountability for those who misuse trust.
