Solo Leveling Sweeps Crunchyroll Anime Awards with Nine Wins Including Anime of the Year
Solo Leveling dominated the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, securing nine trophies including the coveted Anime of the Year title. The series outshined strong contenders such as Dandadan, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Delicious in Dungeon, Kaiju No. 8, and The Apothecary Diaries, achieving a rare and impressive sweep.
Among its numerous wins, Solo Leveling took home awards for Best New Anime Series, Best Action Anime, Best Main Character, and Best Anime Score, as reported by The Telegraph. The voice actors portraying Sung Jinwoo also earned multiple accolades across Portuguese, Spanish, and English language categories. Additionally, the anime’s ending sequence received an award, adding to its haul.
Crunchyroll’s eligibility period covers Winter to Fall 2024, allowing some late 2023 premieres like Frieren to compete. Within this timeframe, Solo Leveling not only competed but dominated nearly every category it was nominated for. Other notable series such as Frieren and Dandadan won a few awards—four and three respectively—but their totals were far behind Solo Leveling’s.
The anime’s success mirrors its massive popularity and record-breaking viewership on Crunchyroll since its release. Fans praised its sleek action sequences and compelling lead character. With season two already in progress, Solo Leveling is expected to continue its winning streak in future awards.
Besides Solo Leveling, other standout winners included Look Back, directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama, which won Anime Film of the Year, and Attack on Titan, which received the Global Impact Award. Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc also continued its strong performance, winning Best Continuing Animated Series and Best Animation, boosted by the work of director Haruo Sotozaki and composers Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina.
