No policeman has the right to slap or assault a citizen without cause. Such an act is not only misconduct but also a criminal offense. If the local police refuse to register your FIR, you can escalate the matter to the District SP, Police Commissioner, or DGP. You can also approach the Human Rights Commission. And if justice is still denied, filing a petition in court is every citizen’s constitutional right.
