Sanjog Gupta Defends Andy Pycroft Amid PCBs Allegations in Asia Cup
In a big development during the ongoing Asia Cup, Sanjog Gupta, the newly appoint CEO of International Cricket Council (ICC), played important role in handling controversy with Pakistan cricket team. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had lodge a formal complaint saying that match referee Andy Pycroft acted in biased way during India-Pakistan match on September 14. Specifically, PCB claimed Pycroft told the captains not to exchange team sheets and advise Pakistan captain, Salman Ali Agha, not to start handshake with India's Suryakumar Yadav. These action were seen as violation of Spirit of Cricket.
In response to PCB allegations, ICC under Gupta leadership did internal inquiry and decide that Pycroft had not break any conduct code. Gupta firmly reject PCB request to remove Pycroft from officiating in Pakistan next matches, saying there was no valid reason to do so. This decision show ICC commitment to keep impartiality and maintain integrity of the game.
