In a spectacular return, Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie is currently redefining box-office benchmarks. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film has already crossed the ₹250-crore mark worldwide by its second day, vaulting it into the lead position as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025 what a comeback! 

The momentum is staggering. In India, Coolie has netted ₹118.50 crore (₹145 crore gross) in just two days, propping it up ahead of contemporaries like Good Bad Ugly and Vidaamuyarchi—and all this without even entering its full opening weekend yet. 

Overseas, the film is equally unstoppable. With a record-setting $8.75 million gross on day one making it the highest-ever Tamil film opening internationally the film’s multi-million-dollar haul continues to impress. By day two, global collections are estimated at over $13 million (₹110 crore), bringing the global tally well beyond ₹250 crore.

Strong audience turnout remains evident. Tamil-speaking regions are seeing occupancy rates near 64%, while theatres across the country buzz as fans flock to witness Rajinikanth’s on-screen charisma. 

Trade experts are bullish. Some predict that, if Coolie maintains this trajectory through the extended Independence Day weekend, it could easily challenge the all-time top Tamil grosser Rajinikanth’s own 2.0, which earned ₹691 crore.
