Putin Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack, Offers Full Support to India
Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the Pahalgam terror attack in a phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, offering Russia's full support in India's battle against terrorism. During the conversation, Putin expressed his condolences for the loss of innocent lives and emphasized the need to bring the attackers and their supporters to justice.
This conversation follows Modi’s decision to skip a planned visit to Russia amid rising tensions with Pakistan, which has been shaken by the brutal Pahalgam attack. The incident, which took place on April 22 in the picturesque town of Pahalgam, known as "mini Switzerland," marked the deadliest attack in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama bombing. A group affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba opened fire in Baisaran meadow, killing 26 people, mostly tourists.
