Pakistan Army Kills 30 Militants at Afghan Border After Deadly Suicide Attack
On Friday, July 4, 2025, Pakistan’s military announced that it had killed 30 militants attempting to cross into the country from Afghanistan over the past three days. This comes in the wake of a suicide bombing in the same border region last week that killed 16 Pakistani soldiers. According to the military, the militants were members of the Pakistan Taliban or its allied groups, and it accused India of supporting them.
"The security forces displayed exceptional professionalism, vigilance, and readiness, successfully averting a potential disaster," the statement said, noting that a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also seized during the operation.
The clashes occurred in North Waziristan, a volatile border district where a Pakistan Taliban faction had recently claimed responsibility for the deadly suicide attack on Pakistani troops.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the armed forces for preventing the infiltration attempt, stating through his office, “We remain firmly committed to eradicating all forms of terrorism from our nation.”
