IOC Urges Calm Amid India-Pakistan Tensions, Assures Ample Fuel and LPG Supplies
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country’s largest oil company, assured the public on Friday that there are sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG across India, and urged citizens not to engage in panic buying amid the rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
The clarification came after numerous videos and social media posts showed people lining up at petrol pumps, especially in border states, to hoard fuel. “Indian Oil has ample fuel stocks nationwide and our supply chains are functioning smoothly,” the company said in a post on X. “There is no reason for panic buying — fuel and LPG are easily available at all our outlets.”
Reports of panic purchases were particularly prominent in areas of Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, where several towns enforced blackouts after Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks along the western border during the night of May 8–9. These were met with strong retaliation by the Indian Army.
IOC called on citizens to remain calm, stressing that avoiding unnecessary queues would ensure continued access to fuel for everyone. The reassurance follows India’s deep retaliatory airstrikes earlier in the week on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, after a terrorist attack claimed dozens of lives in Pahalgam two weeks prior.
