India Reports 3,961 Active COVID-19 Cases; 4 New Deaths Across Key States

As of 8 AM on Monday, June 2, 2025, India has 3,961 active COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the country since January has reached 32, with four fatalities reported in the past 24 hours. An additional 203 cases were recorded since Sunday, contributing to the current active case count.

Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Kerala each reported one COVID-related death since Sunday. Delhi registered 47 new infections, bringing its active caseload to 483.

In Kerala, 35 new cases were recorded, pushing the active case count to 1,435. Maharashtra saw 21 new cases, raising its active infections to 506. West Bengal reported 44 new cases, with its total number of active cases now at 331.

On Friday, Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH (Independent Charge), Prataprao Jadhav, stated that the central government is fully equipped to manage any emerging COVID-19 developments. “The Health Ministry and the AYUSH Ministry are on high alert and are monitoring the situation closely across all states. We’ve been in contact with health and AYUSH secretaries, along with other relevant officials,” Jadhav told ANI.

He also mentioned that the infrastructure established during earlier COVID-19 waves, such as oxygen generation facilities and ICU beds, has been reviewed, and preparations are ongoing. “We’ve assessed the readiness of healthcare systems built during past waves and are taking proactive steps. Our health infrastructure is well-prepared to respond to any situation that might arise,” he said.
