“We will focus on advancing our mutually beneficial cooperation, including in the areas of agriculture, critical minerals, energy, trade, tourism, technology, and investment.” These are Prime Minister Modi’s words as he arrives in Argentina. He will be visiting for two days, during which he will talk with the top officials of Argentina.
This initiative represents a segment of the Prime Minister’s five-nation tour, which seeks to strengthen India’s partnerships and collaboration with the Global South.
This meeting also marks the first bilateral visit from India to Argentina at the prime ministerial level in 57 years. It also represents Prime Minister Modi’s second visit to the country as Prime Minister, having previously visited in 2018 for the G20 Summit.
PM Modi will engage in extensive discussions with President Javier Milei to enhance the India-Argentina partnership in crucial sectors such as defense, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade, and investment, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs.
In his farewell statement, the Prime Minister acknowledged Argentina as a crucial economic partner in Latin America and emphasized the strong collaboration within the G20. He expressed his eagerness to engage in discussions with President Javier Milei, whom he had the pleasure of meeting last year.
