Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has extended financial support to the family of Syed Adil Hussain Shah, the Kashmiri youth who died heroically while saving tourists during the Pahalgam terror attack, according to an official statement released Friday.

Shinde provided ₹5 lakh in financial aid to Syed’s family. A cheque was personally handed over by Shiv Sena workers, Sarhaadh Sanstha volunteers, and Border authorities, who traveled to Pahalgam to express their solidarity.

Through a video call, Shinde offered his heartfelt condolences and reassured Syed’s family of continued support. Syed Adil, a 20-year-old who earned his living offering horse rides to tourists, was fatally shot while trying to snatch a terrorist’s weapon to protect visitors during the attack.

In the aftermath, many tourists from Maharashtra were stranded in the region. Shinde visited Srinagar on Wednesday, overseeing relief efforts and meeting those affected. Tourists praised Syed’s bravery, which moved Shinde to quickly extend assistance.

Shinde called Syed’s actions a shining example of humanity and courage, promising to help rebuild the family’s home.

Syed, laid to rest at his village Hapatnard in Pahalgam, was mourned by hundreds. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who attended the funeral, honored Syed’s extraordinary bravery and assured full support to his family.
