DU Launches New Psychology Courses to Understand Gen Z Mindset and Challenges

Delhi University’s Department of Psychology is introducing a series of new academic courses aimed at understanding the mental health, mindset, and emotional patterns of Generation Z  individuals born after 1997. Recognizing the unique challenges today’s youth face, the university plans to provide students with deeper insights into psychological well-being and real-life concerns.

The new courses will include modules like Positive PsychologyDigital PsychologyMental Health Awareness, and Youth & Emotional Intelligence. These programs are designed not just for academic learning but also to address critical youth issues such as anxiety, relationship complexities, career uncertainty, and the growing influence of social media. According to Prof. Payal Agarwal, Head of the Psychology Department, these topics reflect the evolving mental landscape of the younger generation and require urgent academic focus.

To ensure practical understanding, the curriculum will blend theory with case studies, group activities, and real-life analysis. The university believes that mental health is no longer just a medical concern but a key educational priority. By equipping students with tools to navigate their emotional challenges, DU hopes to empower them both personally and professionally. This initiative marks a significant step toward aligning education with the psychological realities of modern youth.
