The Delhi government and police will conduct a trial of the newly installed air siren system at ITO in central Delhi on Friday afternoon, amid rising India-Pakistan tensions. The test, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., will last 15 to 20 minutes, according to an official directive. A police officer stated that the sirens are audible up to a 4-kilometre radius. The directive, signed by district magistrate (Central) G. Sudhakar, urges widespread awareness via social and electronic media to avoid public panic.

Delhi Police have deployed teams to check the preparedness of personnel and equipment. The Civil Defence Directorate will oversee the siren testing at the Public Works Department (PWD) headquarters. Officials have emphasized that this is only a routine trial, not an emergency, and have appealed to residents to remain calm.

A mock drill was also held earlier this week for schoolchildren and local residents, in line with central government instructions to ensure readiness for any crisis. On Friday morning, the officer at Daryaganj police station made public announcements, clarifying that the siren test is a precautionary measure, not a cause for concern, and is simply a system check for future emergency alerts.
