Bihar Police Woman Constable and Youth Die by Suicide in Separate Incidents; Investigation Underway
Two individuals, including a woman constable from Bihar Police, died by suicide in separate incidents in Jehanabad and Saran districts, officials reported on Thursday. In Jehanabad, the 27-year-old constable’s body was discovered in her barrack at Kako sub-divisional jail late Wednesday. A resident of Manihari police station in Katihar district, she joined the police force in 2016 and had been serving as a warder at the divisional jail for 18 months, previously posted in Purnea and Araria. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Sanjeev Kumar, said forensic teams collected evidence and the case is being investigated thoroughly. The constable had completed her duty around noon before she was found by colleagues and rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead.
In Saran, a 19-year-old recently released from jail was found dead at Parsa police station premises on Wednesday evening, with police suspecting suicide due to loneliness. Superintendent of Police Kumar Ashish confirmed two FIRs were filed, and investigations are ongoing.
