Around 6.30 p.m. on November 21, an official told the news agency PTI that the incident occurred at the Myanmar Chemical Company in Shalgaon MIDC of Kadegaon tehsil in the Sangli district.

The security guard and two other women died after inhaling the fatal chemical fumes, the police said. According to Sangli Superintendent of Police Sandip Ghuge, the gas is suspected to be ammonia. About 12 individuals in the unit were impacted by the gas leak and sent to the hospital, according to Sangram Shewale, senior inspector of the Kadegaon police station. Among them, a security guard and two female employees have perished. According to PTI, nine more people are receiving treatment.

Five of the injured are in the intensive care unit (ICU), while seven were admitted to Sahyadri Hospital in Karad, according to a police officer.
