Dr. Tedros praised India for hosting the G20 Summit with courteous hospitality and visionary leadership at the outset of his speech.

“I commend India for their steps towards advancing Universal Health Coverage and the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which is the world’s largest health assurance initiative,” the head of the WHO stated.

Additionally, he spoke fondly of his time spent at a Health and Wellness Centre and praised the amenities offered there.

“I visited a Health and Wellness Centre here in Gandhinagar and was impressed by the primary healthcare services being provided to 1000 households by the HWC,” he continued.

Additionally, he praised Gujarat’s telemedicine services and congratulated India’s G20 Presidency for the Global Digital Health Initiative, which will be unveiled on Saturday.

“I commend the telemedicine options offered here that offer local prescriptions and therapy. It is an excellent representation of how healthcare is changing. Additionally, I want to thank the Indian G20 Presidency for taking the lead on the Global Digital Health Initiative, which will be unveiled tomorrow.

More than 70 delegates from various nations are attending the G20 Health Ministers’ conference and side event in Gandhinagar, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday.

At the G20 Health Ministers meeting and other side events, more than 70 representatives representing various nations are present. “We are presenting the public with India’s health model, and they are enjoying it. The Modi administration has a comprehensive perspective on the healthcare industry, according to Mr. Mandaviya.

The G20 Health Ministers’ Meeting is taking place in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar from August 17 to August 19 under the G20 India Presidency.

India, one of the three members of the G20 Troika (Indonesia, India, and Brazil), will hold the G20 presidency beginning on December 1, 2022. During India’s G20 Presidency, the troika’s three developing and emerging economies came together for the first time.

The G20 Health Track’s three primary priorities will be the prevention, preparedness, and response to health emergencies with a focus on antimicrobial resistance and the One Health framework; strengthening pharmaceutical sector cooperation with a focus on access and availability to safe, effective, high-quality, and reasonably priced medical countermeasures (Vaccines, Therapeutics, and Diagnostics); and digital health innovation.
