Supreme Court Suspends Rahul Gandhi’s Conviction, Congress Celebrates Victory for Truth

Truth has won, said to Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, after the Supreme Court suspended Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a 2019 defamation case, adding that he has spoken to the Speaker of the House about reinstating Rahul’s membership as soon as possible.

“We were pleased when the Supreme Court issued its decision. The absence of Rahul Gandhi from Parliament was felt. I informed the Speaker of the Parliament of the Supreme Court’s judgement and requested that his membership be reinstated as soon as possible…”Today, truth won,” stated MP Chowdhury.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge lauded the Supreme Court’s stay of Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a 2019 defamation case on Friday, calling it a victory for democracy and the Constitution, adding that it remains to be seen how long it will take to restore him following the Supreme Court’s relief.

“Satyameva Jayate….we are all delighted and grateful for the Supreme Court’s decision.” It is not merely Rahul Gandhi’s victory, but also a victory for democracy and the Constitution…It is a popular triumph. Within 24 hours, Rahul Gandhi was disqualified. “We’ll see how quickly he’s reinstated,” Mr Kharge said at a press conference in the national capital.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi praised the public for their support, saying that while it may take time, “truth always triumphs.”

“Truth always wins, if not today, then tomorrow or the next day.” “I appreciate everyone’s support,” he stated at a press conference in the nation’s capital.

According to senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, the Supreme Court of India recognised that this was an attempt to quiet Rahul Gandhi, who was speaking out against the central government’s misbehaviour.

Ramesh Chennithala stated that the people of Wayanad are “happy” with the Supreme Court’s order, saying, “We will be strengthened by this verdict and the people of Kerala, especially the people of Wayanad, will be happy as they have got their Member of Parliament back and his services will be available for the rest of the Lok Sabha period.”

Following the Supreme Court’s stay of execution, Congress workers in Kalpetta, Wayanad district, Kerala, held a joyful march and distributed sweets earlier today. Following the Supreme Court decision, Congress workers in Bengaluru also celebrated by giving sweets.

In response to the Supreme Court decision, Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot stated that everything is on the right track and that the Congress will return to power in Rajasthan.

“After independence, Rahul Gandhi was the first person to receive a full two-year sentence in a defamation case.” The Supreme Court today overturned the lower court’s decision. Everything is finally moving in the correct direction…”The Congress will retake power in Rajasthan,” claimed CM Gehlot.

“There is no way forward required by the courts or by us,” said Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi. The only way forward is for you to reinstate his membership and admission into both Lok Sabha and his legitimate rightful house at the same time you abruptly dismiss him.

Following the Supreme Court’s decision, Tamil Nadu Minister and DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin stated on Friday that the ruling would “morally boost the opposition alliance, INDIA to strengthen democratic and secular values.”

Udhayanidhi Stalin, who welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision, stated that the Apex Court “valiantly upheld the sentiments and mandate of the people of Wayanad.”

Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, called it a “good thing.”

“His disqualification had no effect.” “He was doing the same job he was doing as an MP,” Mr Azad explained.

“Justice has prevailed,” stated Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar shortly after the Supreme Court’s decision, adding, “The highest court in the country has sent a message that small internal matters cannot be blown up and vendetta politics has no place in democracy…They withdrew him from Parliament within 24 hours, and he must be returned in the same manner. It is the Speaker’s responsibility. Otherwise, the Speaker will be in serious trouble.”

Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge declared it a victory for truth and the constitution.

The Supreme Court halted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in the criminal defamation case over the ‘Modi surname’ statement in an interim judgement issued on Friday.

In July, the Supreme Court issued notifications to the Gujarat government and the complainant in response to the Congress leader’s appeal of the Gujarat High Court judgement.

In its ruling, the Gujarat High Court declined to postpone Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in the criminal defamation case in which the Surat court sentenced him to two years in prison for the remark “Modi surname.”

Gandhi was disqualified as MP from Kerala’s Wayanad on March 24 after his conviction in the case. Earlier in March, a magisterial court convicted Rahul Gandhi for his ‘Modi’ surname statements ahead of the 2019 national elections.
