Police raid gangster hideouts in Delhi and Haryana, recovering Rs 20 lakh in cash and weapons.

A day after mobster Tillu Tajpuriya was assassinated in Tihar jail, police raided the hideouts of members of criminal organisations.

According to sources, Dwarka district police raided different sites across the national capital and Haryana early Wednesday morning and discovered Rs 20 lakh cash, guns, and other illicit items from the hideouts of members of a criminal gang. This comes just one day after mobster Tillu Tajpuriya was assassinated in Tihar jail on Tuesday. “Dwarka Police has raided the hideouts of gangsters and their associates sitting abroad,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police M Harshawardhan. Raids have been carried out in various parts of Delhi, including Sonipat and Jhajjar.”

“Around 20 lakhs have been recovered from a location in Delhi; in addition, weapons have been recovered from Jhajjar and other locations in Haryana,” DCP Harshawardhan added. Some people have also been detained during the action, according to official sources. “A search operation is currently underway.” “The Delhi Police is gathering information on recoveries from other states,” DCP said. 

On Tuesday, gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was allegedly murdered in Tihar jail by rival gang members. According to preliminary results of an autopsy performed on Tillu Tajpuriya’s body following his death, the incarcerated mobster was attacked over 45 times, with over two dozen injuries found on his skull. According to hospital sources, Tillu Tajpuriya was assigned 45 wounds in the initial post-mortem assessment. Five wounds were discovered on his waist, while seven were discovered on his skull. 

Earlier on Tuesday, the Delhi Police Special Cell apprehended two members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang following an encounter with the police squad in the Rohini area. After an exchange of fire, they were apprehended.

According to Delhi Police, the apprehended Rajat and Habib were involved in the murder of Surendra Matiala. They were members of the Kapil Sangwan Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Two firearms and six live bullets were taken from their possession by police.
