CUET-UG Exam Not Based on CBSE Syllabus: Ministry of Education

According to the Ministry of Education, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG is not based on CBSE syllabus but on general proficiency of several class 12 subjects.

The test evaluates students from various boards on an equal level, according to Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.

“CUET will be held for admission to central universities beginning in the academic year 2022-23 in order to reduce the burden on students, universities, and the entire education system.”

“Because the syllabus is based on general understanding of the subject at the class 12 level, the test examines students from different boards on an equal footing.” “The CUET is not based on the CBSE syllabus,” he stated.

Over 11.11 lakh students took the second edition of the entrance exam, which was held in nine rounds from May 21 to July 5. The minister also denied that there was any plan to eliminate all school boards and recognized only one from which children might take class 12 examinations before taking the CUET.

In terms of applicant numbers, the CUET-UG is the country’s second-largest admission exam. In the initial edition, 12.5 lakh students registered for the exam, with 9.9 lakh submitting applications.
