Cricket World Cup 2023: Online Ticket Sales to Begin by August 10

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is gearing up for the upcoming 50-over World Cup scheduled to commence on October 5. Ticket sales for the event will begin online by August 10, pending finalization of ticket pricing by individual staging associations. Fans attending the marquee events will need to use physical paper tickets for entry into the stadium. The BCCI has outlined plans to provide additional ticket collection centers separate from the stadium in each city for fans’ convenience.

Ticket Sale Process and Quotas

BCCI secretary Jay Shah conducted a meeting with state associations in New Delhi to ensure a smooth ticketing process. Each state association has been asked to share their finalized ticket prices with the Indian board by July 31. The sale of tickets will commence after this process is complete.

The BCCI and the International Cricket Council (ICC) will receive 300 free hospitality tickets per game. Additionally, the state associations must allocate 1295 tickets for league games and 1355 tickets for India and semi-final games to the ICC. Furthermore, 500 general tickets must be provided free of cost to the Indian board. In case the ICC and BCCI wish to purchase extra hospitality tickets, the state associations should make arrangements accordingly.

Apart from the specified quotas, each state association can purchase 40 tickets per game, with the remaining 10% of tickets to be acquired by the ICC tour partner.

Facilities and Arrangements:

The BCCI has emphasized providing concession-based quality food products with hygienic distribution at affordable prices. Complimentary drinking water will be made available at each stadium through a tie-up with a renowned beverage company, Coca-Cola. State associations are also required to install in-stadia signages and implement a waste disposal plan.

Rain contingency plans are essential as certain venues may experience rain during the months of October and November. Therefore, the staging associations must ensure they have covers to protect the entire ground area in case of inclement weather.

As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the 2023 World Cup, the BCCI is making efforts to streamline the ticketing process to ensure a seamless experience for fans. With online ticket sales set to begin soon, fans can look forward to cheering for their favorite teams in person during this exciting cricketing event.
