Meet Manika Vishwakarma 22 years old, originally from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, and currently a student in Delhi University and now, the woman representing India at the upcoming Miss Universe 2025 pageant.

For many, pageants are about poise, appearance and performance but Manika brings something deeper. Her academic background in Political Science and Economics, her artistic side (trained in classical dance, and painting recognised by the Lalit Kala Akademi), and her choice to advocate for neurodivergence through her initiative Neuronova set her apart.

When asked in the final national round whether she would prioritise women’s education or financial aid for low-income families, she chose education believing that “its transformative power can break the cycle of poverty”. That answer mirrors how she frames herself: not just a pretty face, but a voice with purpose.

Representing India on the global Miss Universe stage (scheduled November 21, 2025 in Thailand) is no small task. India has had a proud history at Miss Universe winners like Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta and Harnaaz Sandhu have achieved global icon status. Manika steps into that legacy while bringing her own identity and message.

For someone working in PR and content, Manika’s narrative offers many hooks: empowerment of women, representation of young India, and the blending of art, intellect and social advocacy under one spotlight. For Rasam, you can think channeling this into a feature about “Beyond the crown: how Manika aims to make an impact” could work well.

The human side also shines through: a young woman from a smaller town, choosing higher education, nurturing art, and taking a stand for causes now stepping onto the global stage. It’s relatable, aspirational and timely.

In an era where authenticity and purpose matter more than ever, Manika Vishwakarma’s journey is more than just about a pageant it’s about a story of ambition, identity and voice. Indian audiences will be watching and so will many beyond.
