ICC has finally revealed the names of nominees for its star cricketers for the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer Award 2022. The last 12 months have seen brilliant performances on the world stage. The nominees have been decided by the Awards Panel, which comprises of prominent cricket writers and broadcasters from across the globe.
The list is sure to dishearten Indian fans as they will be quite disappointed to see no Indian cricketer’s name on this list. Top four nominated star test cricketers are-
- Ben Stokes (England): – An impressive performer with both – the bat and the ball, Ben converted the British team into an attacking unit. He scored 870 runs with 02 centuries and 04 half – centuries apart from taking 26 wickets with an average of 31. 19. By winning 09 out of the 10 test matches in 2022, Stokes was successful in tearing apart the fear of failure in most of his boys.
- Jonny Bairstow (England ): – A natural attacker of the ball, Bairstow scored 1061 runs at an impressive average of 66. 31 in 10 test – matches during the year. His striking rate of 76 speaks his intentions of attacking each and every bowler of the opponent. He hit six centuries and one half – century.
- Usman Khwaja (Australia): – An efficient batter, both – as a middle-order and as an opener, Khwaja announced his cameo in 2022 during the Ashes and scored 1080 runs in 11 matches with a high – average of 67. 50 including 04 centuries and 05 half-centuries to make his presence felt. His centuries in both innings against England during the Sydney Test in the Ashes ( 137 and 101* ).
- Kagiso Rabada (South Africa): – He was instrumental in taking South Africa to a memorable victory against England, New Zealand, and India. He showed his bowling-strength by scalping 47 wickets only in 09 matches with an economical average of 29. 25 and a striking – rate of 34. 10. His best figure during the year was 5 / 52, including two five-wicket hauls.
