Unexpected Jan Sunwai Assault on Delhi CM Rekha Gupta
A scene that shocked everyone, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked at the Civil Lines residence during his regular public hearing. According to eyewitnesses, a person, who was calling himself a petitioner, suddenly started trying to pull him towards him. This unexpected act created chaos and security personnel and attendees immediately intervened and protected the Chief Minister and controlled the attacker.
Although the initial reports were said to be slapped, the Delhi BJP president clarified that there was a slight injury to the Chief Minister during the clash, it was not a deliberate attack. Fortunately, Delhi Police has confirmed that Rekha Gupta is now safe and stable, although she appeared clearly nervous.
The man behind the incident has been identified as Rajesh Khimji Bhai Sakariya, a 41-year-old from Rajkot, Gujarat. According to his mother, his actions were driven by deep distress over a recent Supreme Court order impacting stray dogs an issue close to his heart as a passionate animal lover. CCTV footage reportedly even captures him surveying the CM’s premises in advance suggesting a disturbing level of premeditation.
Political leaders immediately reacted. BJP leaders feared a possible political conspiracy and questioned how the person could break the security circle so easily. At the same time, AAP's Arvind Kejriwal and other leaders condemned this violent act and insisted that there is no such place for such behaviour in democratic disagreement.
As the officials are investigating the purpose and security lapse, the incident is a serious reminiscent of the challenges that the leaders faced by the leaders who choose the path of transparency and the public directly to the public.
