Silence With Accusation Haryana Cop Final Video Sparks Outcry
In a shocking turn of events in Rohtak, Haryana, a police constable named Sandeep Kumar allegedly died by suicide leaving behind a video in which he accused the recently deceased ADGP Y Puran Kumar of corruption.
Sandeep, attached to the cyber cell of Rohtak Police, recorded a message shortly before his death in which he asserted that Puran Kumar’s conduct was deeply corrupt, calling his own act a sacrifice for “truth.” He also expressed solidarity with Narendra Bijarnia, a former Rohtak SP whom the video praises as an “honest officer.”
The constable’s allegations gain added weight because Puran Kumar himself died under mysterious circumstances days earlier, an event reported as suicide, in which he named 16 senior IPS and IAS officials as responsible. In his suicide note, Puran Kumar had alleged harassment and pressure from higher ups.
Following Sandeep’s death, police rushed to the site, secured the scene, and launched forensic investigations. The Rohtak SP, Narendra Bijarnia, was replaced by Surinder Singh Bhoria in the aftermath of growing unrest and administrative changes. Meanwhile, the Haryana government has placed the state DGP, Shatrujeet Kapur, on forced leave amid public uproar over the case.
Amid mounting pressure, the First Information Report (FIR) in Puran Kumar’s case has been amended to include clauses under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, at the insistence of his wife, Amneet P Kumar. A six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now spearheading the probe, led by Chandigarh’s IG Pushpendra Kumar.
As investigators dig deeper, questions swirl over institutional accountability, police mental health, and systemic corruption all intensifying public scrutiny and unrest in Haryana’s law enforcement ranks.
