PM Modi's GST Reform Push & India's Asia Cup Training Highlights
In a recent statement, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally directed him to focus on simplifying the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system. He emphasized the need for taxpayers to "ensure easy compliance" and explained how important it is to make the tax structure more user-friendly and efficient. The purpose of this instruction is to reduce the burden of compliance with businesses and promote a smooth economic environment under the GST system.
The government has made significant improvements on about 400 items, including reconstruction of GST rates, out of which rates have been reduced at 375. The number of tax slabs has been reduced and has been replaced to simplify many processes. This approach takes into consideration daily use, general public aspirations and needs of farmers and MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), which aims to make compliance easier, promote consumption and encourage economic growth.
