PM Modi Manipur Visit to Unveil ₹8,500 Crore Projects?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to go again Manipur on September 13, 2025, marking his first trip to the troubled northeastern state since May 2023, when ethnic violence between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities broke out.

The itinerary begins in Churachandpur, one of the hilly districts with a large Kuki-Zo crowd, followed by events in Imphal Valley, particularly at Kangla Fort. Modi is expected to meet those displaced, injured, or still suffering the consequences of the unrest. Local voices from the Kuki-Zo community insist that instead of celebratory cultural programs, the prime minister focus on helping, justice, and dignity.

One of the central features of the visit will be the inauguration or laying the functional of projects totalling ₹8,500 crore. Out of this, about ₹7,300 crore is earmarked for Churachandpur’s Peace Ground, with another ₹1,200 crore to be disclose in Imphal. These schemes include infrastructure, healthcare facilities, hostels of working women, local schools, and employment generated projects.

In advance of the visit, large billboards, welcome banners and route preparations (road cleaning, barricades) have been observed across Imphal. Security and traffic measures are being put in place, and public advisory notices warn residents, specifically with young children, to avoid certain areas during the prime minister’s rallies.

While many welcome the visit as a step toward restoring peace, others are cautious: remembering gestures which help, but healing deep wounds and restoring trust will take more. The people in relief camps, those who have lost homes or loved ones, expect concrete action. Modi’s Manipur trip holds weight not just politically, but socially a chance to address pain that has lasted over two years.
