National Convention at O.P. Jindal Global University Explores Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Enduring Legacy
At the inaugural session of the National Convention on “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Legacy: Advancing Rights, Justice & Constitutional Governance” at O.P. Jindal Global University, Attorney General R. Venkataramani emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s profound influence on India’s Constitution. He noted that Ambedkar’s vision infused the document with principles of equality, justice, and governance that go beyond ideological boundaries. Venkataramani stressed the Constitution’s role in guiding struggles for social equality and highlighted the role of educational institutions in bridging politics, governance, and civic awareness.
The three-day national convention, held from April 12–14 to commemorate Dr. Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary, brought together leading academics, judges, and civil society leaders. Speakers included Dr. Raja Sekhar Vundru, IAS, and Manjula Pradeep, among others. Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar called Ambedkar a revolutionary thinker who continues to inspire global movements for justice.
Discussions covered a wide array of themes, including Ambedkar’s role in global human rights, caste in digital India, Dalit feminist theory, and the intersection of constitutional morality and LGBTQ+ rights. Panels featured voices from academia, civil society, and activism, fostering deep engagement with Ambedkar’s enduring legacy in contemporary India.
