Mumbai on High Alert as Threat of 34 ‘Human Bombs’ Rocks the City

Mumbai finds itself under a tense cloud today, as authorities grapple with a chilling threat. On the eve of Anant Chaturdashi, a time when the city was beautiful in vibrant Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations a terror alert rang out: 34 “human bombs,” allegedly equipped with a terrifying 400 kg of RDX, have been placed in vehicles poised to “shake the entire city,” as per the caller’s warning.

A scary message, which was described by a group called himself "Lashkar-e-Jahaadi", was received through the traffic police helpline in Mumbai, which imposed immediate and tight security arrangements. The time is even more worrying in a city where festivals are stirring.

The Mumbai Police reacted rapidly, increased security across the state, deployed bomb disposal squads and asked the public to be vigilant. Officials have taken the situation very seriously, especially when a large number of people are gathering to join immersion and celebrations.

This alarming incident is not Mumbai’s first brush with hoax threats. Earlier in the year, a false bomb threat targeting a railway station in Thane resulted in a suspicion-laden investigation and the arrest of a man named Rupesh Madhukar Ranpise. In August, the ISKCON Temple in Girgaon also received a bomb threat email, later deemed a hoax following thorough checks.

While investigations are ongoing, the city remains on edge. For now, Mumbaikars are urged to stay alert, cooperate with security checks, and report anything suspicious. As the celebrations continue, so too must vigilance until authorities can assure that the threat is neutralized and the city’s safety restored.
