What’s happening in Parliament?
Yesterday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gave a detailed account of Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, stating that the way the army eliminated the terrorists is proof of the strength of India's security apparatus. He asserted that India remains firmly committed to a “zero tolerance” policy against terrorism.

On the other hand, Congress leaders, especially Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Manish Tewari, questioned the government, asking why such attacks continue to occur despite repeated intelligence inputs. They also questioned why such incidents are happening when the government claims Kashmir is “peaceful and normal.”

What’s on the agenda today?
At 12 noon today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to respond to the debate. He is likely to not only explain the strategy behind Operation Sindoor but also speak in detail about the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the role of intelligence agencies, and the government's future policies.

Intense debate expected in the Rajya Sabha as well
The Rajya Sabha is also expected to witness a heated debate on Operation Sindoor. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and TMC MPs have expressed concern over the safety of civilians in the Valley, while NDA MPs have praised the bravery of the armed forces and accused the opposition of politicizing the issue.

Priyanka Gandhi’s statement adds to the debate
Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, speaking outside Parliament, stated that “instead of hiding behind the army, the government must confront the situation with accountability.” Her comment has further fueled the political tension.

‘Operation Sindoor’ has now become the focal point of the Monsoon Session. While the government is presenting it as a decisive action against terrorism, the opposition is linking it to the failure of the Kashmir policy.
