Maruti Suzuki Victoris Earns Global NCAP Five-Star Rating for Adult and Child Safety

Maruti Suzuki’s latest model, the Victoris, has secured a coveted five-star safety rating from Global NCAP for both adult and child occupants a significant milestone for the brand and for car safety in India. This rating was achieved under Global NCAP’s revised, more stringent protocols.
The Victoris was voluntarily submitted for testing and comes standard with several safety features: six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and pedestrian protection. It also offers advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) as optional upgrades. These features helped the car perform strongly across multiple crash-test scenarios. For adult protection, body regions fared well in frontal, side, and pole impact tests; the structure including the footwell maintained stability under pressure. For child safety, both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were placed in rear-facing child seats, complete with ISOFIX anchorages and support legs, and the results were excellent even in side impact tests.
Richard Woods, CEO of Global NCAP, praised Maruti Suzuki’s continuous rise in safety standards, pointing to the Victoris and last year’s Dzire (another five-star achiever) as proof of the company’s focus on protecting occupants. This achievement expands the small but growing group of cars in India that meet the high standards for adult and child safety together.
In addition to passive safety measures, the Victoris is designed with safety reminders (seatbelt reminders), three-point seatbelts in all seating positions, and i-Size anchorages. This emphasis on both protection and prevention underscores a greater shift in consumer expectations and regulatory standards in India’s automotive sector.
