Maruti Suzuki’s new SUV, Victoris, has made a strong statement in the safety arena: it just earned a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP placing it among India’s safest cars on the road.

This makes Victoris only the second model from Maruti Suzuki to win top marks globally, after the Dzire.

What the Ratings Show

•Adult protection: Victoris scored 31.66 out of 32 points, an almost-perfect result.

•In the frontal offset test, it managed 15.66/16, and a perfect 16/16 in side-impact.

•For child occupant protection, it scored 43/49 points, including a clean 24/24 for dynamic tests and full marks (12/12) for proper child restraint system installation. The vehicle assessment part (how the car supports those restraints etc.) got 7/13.

What Helps It Get There

The Victoris is equipped with a strong safety feature set as standard. Key inclusions:

•Six airbags.

•ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat points, and electronic stability control.

•Also, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) at Level-2: automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with curve speed adjustment, lane-keeping assist, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alerts.

Why It Matters

For Indian car buyers, safety is increasingly not optional buyers want assurance, not just style or fuel efficiency. Victoris’s achievement reflects that shift. It also signals Maruti Suzuki is making safety a more prominent part of its value proposition.

In the compact/mid-SUV segment, this raises the bar for competitors like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Curvv, which are already focusing on strong features and build quality.
