Hidden Camera Shock at Tata Electronics Women’s Hostel in Tamil Nadu

In a disturbing breach of privacy, a hidden camera was found in the bathroom of a women’s hostel at Tata Electronics Private Limited’s facility in Lalikkal, Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu. The hostel, Vidiyal Residency an eleven-storey accommodation complex housing over 6,000 female employees became the scene of major outrage after the discovery.
According to police, the accused are 22-year-old Neelukumari Gupta, an employee residing in the hostel, and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Santhosh, arrested from Bengaluru. It is alleged that Neelukumari installed the camera in the bathroom room she was sharing, at Santhosh’s instruction.
The device was discovered by fellow residents on Tuesday (Nov 5) and swiftly reported to the management. The ensuing shock and anger prompted more than 2,000 residents to protest outside the hostel premises on Tuesday evening. Families soon arrived, and over 200 women chose to return to their hometowns with their belongings amid escalating tension.
Local police deployed more than 100 officers, including women’s teams, to assist with crowd control and investigation. They formed ten specialised teams checking each of the eight blocks and every floor of the hostel for additional hidden cameras. Investigators are also analysing footage retrieved from the discovered camera to determine the extent of the breach.
The case raises serious questions about campus safety and dormitory surveillance for women employees in large corporate installations. For a facility housing such a significant number of young female professionals, the incident highlights vulnerabilities in hostel-security protocols and oversight. The hostel floors, each room housing four occupants from various northern states, were apparently shared by residents including the accused.
Management and local authorities must now not only respond to the immediate outrage but also rebuild trust among resident employees. Transparent communication, rigorous security audits, and support for victims will be critical in restoring confidence.
This incident serves as a reminder that corporations with residential facilities must treat student/employee housing as an extension of workplace safety. The swift arrests reflect serious intent by law enforcement, but the emotional impact on residents and families may take longer to address.
