A deeply disturbing incident in Faridabad has once again raised serious concerns about women’s safety on city roads. A 28 year old woman was allegedly gang raped and brutally assaulted inside a moving van on the Gurgaon Faridabad road before being thrown out of the vehicle in the early hours of the morning.

The victim, who was waiting for a lift home late on Monday night, was approached by a van whose occupants promised to drop her to her destination. She agreed, only for the situation to take a terrifying turn when the vehicle diverted from its original route. According to police reports and statements from her family, the woman was kept inside the van for nearly two to two and a half hours, during which time the two men allegedly assaulted and raped her repeatedly.

Around 3 am, the assailants reportedly forced her out of the van while it was still in motion near Raja Chowk in the SGM Nagar area. She suffered severe injuries to her face and later required 10 to 12 stitches at a local hospital. The woman was bleeding heavily when she was found, and her family rushed her for immediate medical attention after learning about the incident. While her physical condition has since stabilised, she continues to remain in deep shock and emotional distress, struggling to process the trauma she endured.

Investigators later reviewed CCTV footage that showed the van moving along the road during the period when the crime took place. Based on this evidence, police arrested both accused individuals and recovered the vehicle used in the assault.

The victim’s sister, who lodged the formal complaint, stated that the woman had called her earlier that night saying she was going to a friend’s place after an argument with their mother. She was expected to return home within a few hours, but the night ended in unimaginable violence.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the local community, once again highlighting the risks women face even in routine situations such as accepting a ride. Authorities are now under pressure to strengthen night surveillance, enforce stricter monitoring of vehicles, and ensure swift legal action.

The case underlines the urgent need for safer transport options, stronger public safety infrastructure, and greater awareness to protect women on the streets, especially during late hours.
