The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued nine show-cause notices to Air India over five safety-related violations in the past six months, the government informed Parliament on Monday, July 21, 2025. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol shared this information in the Rajya Sabha in response to a question from CPM MP John Brittas. He also noted that enforcement action had been concluded in one of the violation cases.

Despite these notices, overall DGCA action against airlines, including Air India, appears to have declined over the past year, based on data presented in Parliament. The number of warnings issued in the first seven months of 2025 fell to 65, a significant drop from 203 in 2024. Similarly, suspension orders decreased sharply from 329 last year to 61 this year. Financial penalties have also dropped—₹82.35 lakh in 2025 compared to ₹7.41 crore in 2024.
