Delhi Electrocution Death Reopened as Murder Probe After Affair Clues

The case of a 36-year-old jeweller from Dwarka, Delhi initially labelled an accidental electrocution has now taken a chilling turn. Delhi Police have launched a full-scale murder probe after new evidence emerged suggesting foul play involving the victim’s wife and brother‑in‑law.

The tragic incident occurred on July 13, when Karan Dev was rushed to Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital in Uttam Nagar in an unresponsive state. Doctors confirmed electrocution as the cause of death. At first, the family opted out of a post-mortem, believing it to be a tragic accident. However, police insisted on further investigation due to the victim’s relatively young age.

The revelation came on July 16, when Karan’s brother uncovered incriminating WhatsApp chats between Karan’s wife, Sushmita Dev, and her alleged lover, his cousin Rahul Dev. Messages hinted at a premeditated plan: spiking Karan’s food with sleeping pills before electrocuting him with a live wire. One chat reportedly laid out, step by step, how they executed the plan late on July 12.

Police have since arrested both Sushmita and Rahul and registered a murder case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators are now collecting more evidence, including forensics and proof statements, to piece together the conspiracy.

This investigation has shocked the entire community, which has revealed how cheating and deceit can hide under the guise of an accidental tragedy. As the investigating officers are investigating deeply, the family and neighbours are waiting to know the truth of what really happened in that wretched night in Dwarka.
