Congress MP Slams PM Modi's Foreign Visit During Monsoon Session, Questions Commitment to Democracy
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari has strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned visit to the U.K. and Maldives from July 23 to 26, which coincides with the Monsoon Session of Parliament. Speaking on Sunday, July 20, 2025, Tiwari questioned the Prime Minister’s commitment to democratic principles and urged him to reflect on his attendance in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
In a statement to ANI, Tiwari asked, “When the Prime Minister was already aware of his travel schedule, why did he convene the session? He should examine how frequently he has attended Parliament. It appears our Prime Minister is not serious about democracy.”
With the Monsoon Session commencing on July 21, the Opposition’s INDIA bloc is preparing to challenge the government over several major issues. Among the key topics expected to be raised are Operation Sindoor, the handling of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Air India Ahmedabad plane crash, and the Bihar electoral roll revisions.
Tiwari criticised the Modi-led government’s governance and stressed the need for the Prime Minister’s presence in Parliament, especially when serious matters such as caste-based violence and foreign policy are on the table.
