Late one night in Bengaluru’s quiet Byatarayanapura neighbourhood, what began as an ordinary ride home turned into a harrowing ordeal for three people and now, a high-profile name finds herself at the centre of the storm.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 am on October 4, when a black car crashed into a motorcycle carrying three individuals: Kiran G (25), and his cousins Anusha (24) and Anitha (33). While Kiran and Anusha escaped with minor injuries, Anitha suffered a fractured leg and required surgery at BGS Hospital.

In the days that followed, the investigation moved into high gear. Traffic police trawled CCTV footage and traced the black KIA car involved to the actress Divya Suresh, best known for her work in Kannada entertainment and her stint on a reality show.

The core allegation: the car hit the motorcycle, and instead of stopping to help, the driver fled the scene. The legal case has been registered under sections for rash driving and endangering life.

Divya Suresh has broken her silence on the matter, posting a message on her Instagram story: “Truth alone triumphs.” She defended herself by saying the biker was at fault, pointing to the three riders on the bike, none of whom were wearing helmets and alleging the collision occurred as she made a left turn.

For the victims, the physical pain is real but so is the sense of injustice. Anitha remains bedridden, whether still recovering from surgery and grappling with the consequences of a moment that changed lives. The family has voiced upset that they’ve heard little from the driver since the accident.

The case raises broader issues too: the responsibility of drivers, even celebrities; the acceptance of accountability; and the trust we place in every person who takes the wheel at night. For a public figure like Divya Suresh, the stakes are higher far beyond the legal ones.

As the investigation continues, the questions linger: Will the legal process deliver clarity? Will the victims find closure? And will this incident remind us all that behind the wheel no matter whose name is on the license lies a duty of care to every human life around us.
