Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a firm stance against America’s trade policies. Addressing a rally in Surendranagar district, Gujarat, Kejriwal said that if the US imposes a 50% duty on Indian exports, India should respond by levying a 75% duty on imports from the US.

He criticized the central government’s policy that extended duty-free import of cotton from the US until 2025. Kejriwal warned that this move would harm Indian farmers.

The AAP chief demanded that an 11% duty be reimposed on cotton, the minimum support price (MSP) be set at ₹2,100 per 20 kilograms, and subsidies be provided to farmers for fertilizers and seeds. He accused the central government of compromising farmers’ interests under US pressure.
