Akhilesh Yadav says Centre foreign policy weak after U.S. raises H-1B visa fees
On September 20, 2025, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav condemn the Indian central government after a U.S. executive order that sudden increase the fee for company sponsoring H-1B visa applicant to Dollar 100000. He describe this move as proof of India’s “weak” foreign policy, saying the country is becoming more depend on rules of foreign power instead of defending own interest.
Yadav warn that the fee hike will have serious effect for Indian IT and technology sector, specially for professional who rely on H-1B visa to work in U.S. He also question the central government readiness to react on such international actions and ask what strategy are really in place to protect Indian worker and company.
He point too on wider concern, telling that India is still much rely on import like oil and other essential good, which he believe show a foreign policy that lack strength and autonomy. Opposition leader echoed these worry, suggest that government must do more to defend Indian tech talent and cut dependency from outside.
The visa fee hike is expect to take effect from September 21, making uncertain for many Indian professional who plan to move, or already working, in U.S. As debate heat up, political party are demanding explanation and pushing for stronger diplomatic step to handle such policy change.
