A shocking incident came to light on Monday in Hanumanthapura village of Karnataka, where 20 peacocks were found dead near a stream flowing by the fields. Among the dead were 3 males and 17 females. Villagers informed the forest department, after which officials arrived at the spot and began an investigation.

The cause of the peacocks' death is still unknown. All the carcasses have been sent to the forensic science lab for examination, and the exact reason will be known only after the reports are received

This incident adds to a series of mysterious wildlife deaths recently reported in the state. Just a few days ago, the deaths of 20 monkeys, a tigress, and her four cubs were also reported in Karnataka, which has intensified both the concern and investigation efforts of the forest department. Officials are treating these cases seriously, and the possibility of a major biological or chemical cause has not been ruled out
